We
like to think of I T M as a 37 mile museum stretching along the railroad from
Sutherland Avenue in northeast Indianapolis to State Road 28 in Tipton. We
operate our classics trains on every mile at some time during each operating
season although it is rare that we operate a train from one end to the other in
one trip. Passengers get on and off our trains at many locations. This should
help you find the location you want and need.
This is our main location. On 51 of the 80 days of scheduled
operations the trains leave from here. School field trips take place here.
People say we are hard to find but it is really easy to get here because Forest
Park is on State Road 19. We have marked our location on this interactive map on
MAPQUEST.
These trains operate out of Forest Park: Forest Park Caboose Train, Great Towns Train,
Dinner in the Diner, Pizza Plus Express, Dinner OR a Movie, Pumpkin Train, La Bella Donna Mother's Day Train,
Fireworks Train, Train Day Train, French Flea Market Train, Atlanta New Earth Festival Train,
Porkfest Train, Arcadia May Festival Train, Arcadia Autumnfest Train
On 33 days trains operate from Fishers and it is even easier to reach because
it is half-a-mile west of exit 5 of Interstate 69. Another interactive MAPQUEST
map shows the location.
These trains operate from Fishers Train Station: The Hamiltonian, Polar Bear Express,
WFMS FairTrain presented by KeyBank, Holiday Shoppers' Express, Santa's Train Home
We operate 2 trains that begin and end here - First Friday Caboose Train and
the Street Dance Caboose Train. This is the boarding point for our Father's Day
Train and the second boarding point for the Forest Park Caboose Train. The Great
Towns Train can be boarded here as well as in Forest Park. This location is near
many parking spots on the street and in municipal lots. Parking is free after
5pm and on weekends. Riders on the Hamiltonian and Holiday Shoppers' Express are
let off and re-board here. This MAPQUEST map
shows the location along 8th Street near Logan Street.
Tipton is the destination for many of our trains. You can also board some
trains here and ride south. The Great Towns Train comes up from Noblesville to
Tipton twice and Tipton riders can travel to Noblesville to shop or dine on the
square. During the Tipton Pork Festival we operate short caboose rides from
here. Another MAPQUEST map shows the
location of our stop in Tipton.
This is the destination of the WFMS FairTrain presented by KeyBank for
passengers who boarded at Fishers. If you traveled to the fair by some
other means you can take a trip to Fishers and back using this MAPQUEST
map to find the boarding location.
If you ride our train to the Atlanta New Earth Festival you will disembark
and re-board here. Atlanta is not big enough for you to get lost. But if you
live near Atlanta and want to ride to Noblesville and back, or if you want to
ride the caboose train from Atlanta then another interactive MAPQUEST
map will show you the way.
The Great Towns Train takes passengers to Arcadia to see the artisans at work
in this small town, or to have lunch between parts of the train trip. Arcadia
will soon build a platform across from their Heritage Depot but that is where we
stop now. MAPQUEST provides guidance so that
those who live in the area can catch a round-trip ride to either Tipton or
Noblesville.
Our Fireworks Trains on the July Fourth weekend travel to Cicero for more
than just the fireworks display. We go for all the festivities of Lights Over
Morse Lake. All trains except the last on July 4th will stop at Community Park
because about everything except the fireworks takes place there. This MAPQUEST
map shows the road into the park. Our train stops on the tracks due east of this
spot.
After the fireworks on July 4th we pick up our passengers just south of
Cicero Street. Other than during the Lights Over Morse Lake celebration any
trains that stop at Cicero stop at Jackson Street. MAPQUEST
shows where our trains stop at Jackson.
Charter trains can stop at just about any location where the steps of our
coaches are close enough to the ground or where we have installed a platform
like those at the pumpkin patch. Any spot where we pick up or drop off
passengers is a "station" on the railroad. However, that does not mean we
have a building there.
