The Town of Cicero has most of the solution. Its citizens present a 3 day celebration of Independence
Day: a celebration that is more than just fireworks. "Lights Over Morse
Lake" ends Monday night with a fantastic fireworks display, fired from and reflected in the waters of Morse Lake.
But activities take place Saturday and Sunday as well, mostly in their
large, grassy Community Park.
The Indiana Transportation Museum takes you there, providing transportation via the "Lights Over Morse Lake Celebration Trains" on July 2nd and 3rd and the Fourth of July "Fireworks
Train!" The Museum's July 4th "Fireworks Train" solves the dilemmas of finding that parking spot and what time to go. Park at
the Museum in Forest Park and ride the Museum's historic railway to
Cicero on your choice of 4 trains.
All activities on Saturday and Sunday center around Community Park on the south side of Cicero so all of our trains will discharge and board passengers only at that location. In addition to the events listed
below, the park will also host a Pioneer Village. Vendors will be at
the park and along Jackson Street in downtown Cicero.
On Saturday July 2nd you can choose from 3 trains allowing
you to pick which events to see and how long to stay in Cicero.
-
Depart Forest Park at 11:30AM and arrive in Cicero as the Kids Carnival
begins. It will feature a bounce
village, not just a bounce house and it runs to
6PM. Civil War re-enactors will be camped at Community Park. The first train will leave on its return to
Forest Park at 1:00PM.
-
Depart Forest Park at 2:30PM to enjoy the fun for a shorter time.
This train will depart Cicero at 4:00PM.
-
Depart Forest Park at 5:30PM just to visit the activities at Community Park in the cool of the evening.
This last train will return to Forest Park from Cicero at 8:00PM.
-
Saturday's timetable is lower on this page.
On Sunday July 3rd another 2 trains will run to Cicero.
-
Depart Forest Park at 2:30PM and enjoy the Kids Carnival already
underway. You will arrive at Cicero just in time for the talent show
at 3:00PM. The first train will depart for Forest Park at 5:00PM.
-
Depart Forest Park at 6:30PM. You can take a hot
air balloon ride and stay to
see the "balloon glow" at 9:00PM right beside the railroad
track. The last train departs
Cicero at 10:00PM.
-
Sunday's timetable is lower on this page.
On Monday July 4th choose from 4 trains to partake in any or all activities.
- Depart Forest Park at 8:30AM to get the best spot for the parade.
Parade participants can avoid the parking congestion at Community
Park by riding this train. Then, join in Kids Carnival starting at 11:00AM. The
Pioneer Village continues at Community Park. This train will depart from
Community Park at 11:30AM.
- Depart Forest Park at 2:00PM. Enjoy activities at Community Park -
the Kids Carnival, Pioneer Village, the soccer tournament - or stake
an early claim to your seats for the fireworks show. This train
returns to Forest Park in Noblesville at 3:00PM.
- Depart from Forest Park at 5pm and arrive at Community Park to visit the end of activities there. Then, stroll to the center of Cicero to watch the
6:00PM music festival with its stages near the lake on Jackson
Street and in Red Bridge Park. This train departs from Community
Park at 6:00PM..
- Depart from Forest Park at 8pm with just enough time to find seats for the fireworks that begin about 10:15 PM. This train will stop at Jackson Street, close to the fireworks launching
point. The last return train of the day departs from Jackson Street about 30 minutes after the fireworks display concludes. The train will stop at Community Park to board anyone waiting there and then returns to Forest Park in
Noblesville.
Reservations are not required for any of these trains. However, due to the popularity of the event and to prevent over-crowding on the return on July 4th, reservations will be accepted for the
Monday trains and the trains could become SOLD OUT prior to that day. Reservations are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for
Monday's trains.
