Does this happen to you every Fourth of
July?
- Your kids (and confess, you too)
want to go see a great fireworks display.
- That display in the big city is
fired from atop that big building and so
far in the sky that your neck will be stiff until
the state fair.
- You have to go so very early for a
close spot.
- Once you have the close spot you'll
be stuck in traffic for an hour when it's time to
go.
- Other than eating not much goes on
while you wait for the show.
The
Town of Cicero has the solution to many of these
problems and the Indiana Transportation Museum helps
with the rest.
Additionally,
in 2009 Cicero celebrates their 175th anniversary July
3rd, 4th and 5th. Click here to learn more about the 175th anniversary
celebration including how to get there by train.

Cicero
caps their celebration of the Fourth of July with a
fantastic fireworks display fired from the waters of
Morse Lake. While crowds gather for the show a traditional, patriotic parade and other great
activities take place in the town above Morse. Residents of
Cicero call their celebration "Lights
Over Morse Lake" with the slogan "The
place to be on the 4th." We at the Indiana
Transportation Museum agree with that slogan.
Our
Fireworks Train solves the dilemma of finding that
parking spot and what time to go. Park at the
Museum in Forest Park and ride one of 4 trains to the
center of Cicero, about a quarter mile from the
reservoir, on July 4th:
-
Depart
at 9:30 AM to Cicero in time for the parade at 10 AM
featuring Bowser from the Indiana Pacers!
After the parade head to Community Park for the Music
Festival or Kids
Carnival. Both events run from 11 AM to 5
PM.
-
Depart
at 2:00 PM to take part in the last part of those
activities.
-
Depart
at 5:00 PM in time for a picnic of your own food or
food from the vendors in Cicero or head over to Red
Bridge Park for more of the Music
Festival.
-
Depart
at 8:00 PM with just enough time to find seats for
the fireworks that begin about 10:15 PM.
The
train departs for the return to the Museum about 30
minutes after the fireworks display concludes. Click here for
