You may not be familiar with the Atlanta
New Earth Festival.
- It began in 1973.
- It takes place the fourth weekend of September.
- It attracts over 600 vendors.
- The vendors sell fine art, crafts, antiques, food
and more.
- Attendance exceeds 80,000.
- A 2006 census showed 822 residents in the town.
When you think about an influx of about 100 visitors
for each resident you might realize that parking for the
New Earth Festival can be distant from the action.
Arrive in the middle of it all in air-conditioned
comfort. The Indiana Transportation Museum
provides round-trip transportation to the New Earth Festival
every year.
The train operates rain or shine. Reservations are not
needed so you can wait until the last minute to realize
you just can't pass up this festival. The train departs from the
Museum in Noblesville and transports passengers directly to
the center of Atlanta and the festival.
Our trains make five round-trips each day of this
two-day event with the first trip departing Forest Park
in Noblesville at 8:30am, early enough for passengers to
find the best products at the best prices.
Northbound trains to the New Earth Festival depart every
two hours through the day. Return trips begin at
9:30am and also occur every two hours.
Also, if only one member of your family is a true
shopper and the spouse and kids want more than just
food, walk the two short blocks north to County Line
Road. There you will find an additional ITM
locomotive attached to a few of our cabooses. For
a slight charge you can experience a train ride as
freight crews rode - in the caboose. These
cabooses will travel north to Tipton County Road 450
South, a mile and a half, and then return you to the New
Earth Festival.
When you find your heart's desire among the arts and
crafts, purchase it and bring it back on the
train. All but the very largest of items can be
carried on board your passenger coach. If it will
fit in your car we can carry it in our train.
