| The Indiana Transportation Museum's Festival
Train will provide round-trip transportation to this year's
Tipton County Pork Festival in Tipton, Indiana, PLUS, you and
your family will also have an opportunity to ride our historic
cabooses!.
It has been 40 years since the first Porkfest,
and the Porkfest web site tells this story:
"It was 1969 and life was good, Elvis was King. Nixon
was in the White House. And man had walked on the Moon. Things
couldn't get much better until Frank Larson cooked the first
batch of barbecued pork chops on the courthouse lawn. With a
secret sauce and a special barbecue machine he launched Tipton
County pork into a spotlight that would long out shine the
events of 1969."
"When the sweet aroma of barbecued pork chops once
again drift across the courthouse square every September, the
Tipton County Pork Festival marks another celebration. Some of
the founders will be there, a lot of new faces also, but most
importantly, those great tasting pork chops will be back, thick
and juicy and basically unchanged since festival Number 1."
Join these pioneers in pork and experience the flavor that
is Indiana's pride!
Reservations are not needed, and the train will operate rain
or shine. The train departs from the Hobbs Station in
Noblesville's Forest Park, and transports passengers directly
to downtown Tipton. Tickets may be purchased at Hobbs Station.
Dozens of craft and food vendors will be in attendance at
the Pork Festival, and car shows and live entertainment make
this event a great way to finish the summer.

New for 2010!
If you travel to the Tipton Porkfest by some means other
than our train, or even if you go there by train, you will have
a chance to ride in our cabooses. This is a fun way to learn
how freight train crews worked on the railroad. The caboose
trains will leave from State Road 28, travel south into Tipton
County and return. Fare for the 3 mile trip is only $4 for
everyone age 2 and up.
The great thing about this is that every dollar collected
from riders on this caboose train will be donated to Tipton to
help build a new, yet authentic station platform beside our
railroad track at State Road 28.
Come enjoy a great central Indiana festival and help the
economic development of Tipton.
