Railroads transformed America with ribbons of steel, linking communities
and moving people and commodities from coast to coast. The Indiana
Transportation Museum preserves this legacy by immersing guests in
moving experiences. It links destinations throughout central Indiana,
offering unique cultural encounters. ITM engages and inspires generations through the art, science and technological innovation
of the railroad.
- ITM Mission Statement -
ITM is a volunteer operated organization (except for 2 part-time,
permanent employees) that strives to educate the public on the ways that
railroads helped in the development of the United States and
particularly Indiana. A large part of the educational process involves
taking people on train rides that combine education with the fun of a
trip to a destination or event. This "earned income" - the revenue from the sale of tickets to ride our
trains, is the majority of our income year after year. While we have no desire to reduce the "fun" portion of
the ITM experience, to increase our educational offerings and
preservation and restoration activities we always seek
additional support.
You can lend your support to ITM in a number of ways:
Only the first choice might require you to check with a professional
for advice and the second and third choices probably call for consultation
with others in
your firm. The other four choices just require you to take action.
